Wowzers what a day

So Saturday started off a little shaky with waking up late for work...thankfully my friend Ty was working with me and he sent me a "get your ass up" text. This was quickly followed by our tiredness and missing our stop to get off downtown so we ended up walking an extra 3 blocks to the school and almost missed free breakfast. Thankfully we had 10 minutes to spare before we had to do anything relatively important. Then we started our city bus tours of downtown Minneapolis which would have been flawless had the Heart Walk not been going on directly on our route to and from housing...
The afternoon turned around though, weather was gorgeous hanging out with everyone was great. Then my roommate Crystal and I and our neighbor Tim decided to go for a walk. So we pulled our bikes and rollerblades and headed on over to Dinkeytown. It was all great until I got home...and dropped my iPhone on the concrete and it shattered...AWFUL!!!! I have never been so angry with myself before... Thankfully Ty was home and he saved the day. We went to MOA and visited the Apple store where the fixed it for free! Amazing! But then when I got home...the sewing machine didn't work anymore so I couldn't work on my Urban Outfitters inspired comforter...over all it was a rather roller coaster of a day...

Big Event coming up?

Hey guys!

I'm all about saving money when it comes to looking great. I found this great rental site where you can look like a star for an affordable price! They have dresses for certain events, different body types, colors, styles, etc. I'm using this site to hopefully rent a great dress for a wedding I have to attend later this year as well as a few other great events. The site is called Rent the Runway. Check it out! I already have a handful of dresses saved under my favorites. Get ready for the infamous compliment ladies..."Oh my gosh, I love your dress, where did you get it?!" Can't you just feel the fuzzy feelings growing inside... Happy Shopping!

I have started!

I have started my efforts in making my new comforter. Here is stage one: cutting two sheets into 6 inch strips. They will eventually be the ruffles. I hope to actually start making them ruffles tonight after class! My only concern...that I cut up the wrong sheets. Apparently sheets from Ikea do not get their sizes printed on the tags and after pulling them out of the wash machine I realized I was unsure of which was which. My roommate Robin and I measured and hopefully we measured accurately but I will not know until I sew the shell of the duvet together. Let's keep our fingers crossed that I can pull this off!

I ran out of pins to keep the sheet together as I folded!!

A Lovely Weekend

So my roommate and Robin and I had a baking marathon on Sunday. We made jello, cookies and cream cupcakes and blueberry pie. My cupcake pictures did not turn out BUT here is the blueberry pie :D It's my mom's famous recipe, it's so delicious.

Mid-Weekend Update

Last night I went to Target Field for the first time. Despite still experiencing the last of our winter chill and the Twins throwing the game in the last two innings it was a great night. I had a great time connecting with new people and I hope that that I can spend more time with them. Sadly because of the weather we all left at different times and we ended up not a getting a group picture, otherwise I would post one for you guys!
Today I am having dessert and going to a movie with my lovely cousin Erica, she graduates high school next week! So proud of her :]

I'm waiting to hear back form my Aunt on borrowing her sewing machine so that I can start making my own version of this bedspread found on Urban Outfitters:

I'm in LOVE with this comforter.... I cannot wait to move into my new apartment and decorate it and make it my own. It's going to be a paradise, which is def needed after a long day of nannying and night school.

Tomorrow I'm going to the drive in theatre for the first time! I'm really excited because I'm going with a great group of friends and we're seeing Hangover II AND Bridesmaids, and maybe Fast 5 for only $8...what a STEAL!

Well, that's all for now, hopefully I can get my hands on the sewing machine so I can start posting my progress of making this comforter. PS. my inspiration and careful guidance comes from the lovely this wonderful inspiring woman over at Kikicreates  Hopefully with her tips I can make this comforter look as great as she did :]

Much love guys!
