An old friend taught me the importance of communication. Had I listened to him from the start my life wouldn't be where it is today, and that is okay. My stubborness has caused me to teach myself some very hard lessons, but in the end I've come out a better, stronger, and more honest communicative person. I've made new friends, had new experiences I never would of dreamed of having, and have learned to re-enter the wonderful world of love again. Life is...it's hard. It's so disappointing. People aren't who they say the are or act as they say they'll act. But it's all part of the lessons. We learn and we grow, and that's okay.
Today I am fasting. At first I was fasting for a worldly reason. I wanted to do this fast through World Vision so I could have a reason to make a difference. But I realized you do not need an organization to be a guiding light. On a personal level this fast will help me grow and give me time to reflect on my life and what toxins I need to get rid of. I am going to start with not being so materialistic. These things only provide such minimal happiness. They do not communicate with you. I want to talk to a few people during this event. First and foremost, God. God is a huge cornerstone in this endeavor and he will be on my mind the whole fast. Secondly, I'd like to talk to myself. Socially awkward yes, but you cannot set yourself straight if you do not stop to see and talk to yourself and figure out who you really are. Finally, I am going to talk to the people in my path. Who I see and come in reach with. They should know and I hope they support me through this.
In reference to communication, it is important I think to communicate with those who you haven't communicated with. My friend from earlier, I decided he deserves a taste of what he was trying to teach me. He and I do not speak regularly, there are too many factors as to why we don't and for now that's okay. However, I extended our connection and made it personal by thanking him for teaching me communication. If he didn't wake me up and show me why it is so important I would not be the person I am now almost 3 years later. So in honor of that, this post is dedicated to both him and all other people who have helped me realized the importance of dedication. I raise my glass to you sir, job well done!
